Hot Rolled Coil (HRC) is a flat steel product manufactured through the hot rolling process, where steel slabs are heated above 1,000°C and passed through rollers to achieve the desired thickness. This high-temperature processing allows the steel to be easily shaped and formed, resulting in excellent mechanical properties such as high strength, toughness, and good weldability. HRC is a foundational material widely used across multiple industries due to its versatility and cost-effectiveness.

Specifications

HRC is available in a broad range of sizes to meet different industrial needs.

Thickness: 1.8mm to 25mm

Width: 600mm to 2000mm

Coil Weight: 5 to 25 metric tons

Standard grades include Q235B, Q345B, SS400, ASTM A36, and more, depending on specific project or market requirements.

Surface Condition

Hot rolled coils generally have a scaled, rougher surface than cold-rolled products due to oxidation during processing. While not ideal for high-precision or aesthetic surfaces, HRC is perfectly suited for structural and industrial applications where surface finish is not a primary concern.

Packaging & Transportation

Each coil is securely packed using steel straps, and the surface is wrapped with anti-rust paper or waterproof film to protect against moisture and damage during transportation. Coils are usually shipped in bulk via sea freight and can also be delivered by truck or rail for inland destinations. Proper stacking and anti-slip measures ensure the safety of goods in transit.

Advantages of Hot Rolled Coil

Cost-effective: Lower production cost compared to cold-rolled steel

High strength and formability: Suitable for structural applications

Easy to process: Ideal for cutting, welding, bending, and punching

Availability: Produced in large volumes with short lead time

Versatile: Serves as raw material for downstream products like cold rolled coils, galvanized coils, and welded pipes

Applications

Hot rolled coils are extensively used in industries such as:

Construction: Beams, columns, and structural frameworks

Machinery: Components for heavy equipment and mechanical systems

Automotive: Chassis, frames, and base parts

Shipbuilding and Bridge Construction: Due to its strength and formability

Storage Tanks and Pressure Vessels

Pipelines and Tubular Products

Fabrication of cold rolled and coated products
